Become a Food Recipient

Would your organization benefit from receiving excess, freshly prepared food?

If your organization is a 501 (c)(3) you may qualify to receive food from Feeding Charlotte. Food is provided at no charge but the receiving organizations must be serving the meals to hungry individuals in the Charlotte community. Feeding Charlotte can not provide food for any events or fundraisers where there is a fee to attend.

‍We partner with Food Rescue US, a third-party provider that smartly pairs food donations with volunteers and receiving organizations that feed hungry people.

How to Become a Food Recipient Organization:

      • Create a profile for your organization in Food Rescue that accurately reflects the capacity for food storage and distribution, operating hours, and other details. Food matches are made based on your profile data provided, so the accuracy of this information is vital.
      • Designate a contact person within your organization who can respond to food matches and serve as a point person for coordination with food transport volunteers.
      • Assign a staff member to receive the food donation on delivery day. When a volunteer arrives, confirm the contents of the delivery and then log into the app and electronically confirm the delivery.
      • After receiving the food, provide feedback and photos of the experience.
